Job Summary
The HRFS Consultant - Workday Payroll serves as a trusted advisor to clients by providing expertise in Workday Payroll functionality, configuration, reporting, and best practices. This role partners closely with clients to support implementations, system optimization, issue resolution, and ongoing service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead or support Workday Payroll implementations, enhancements, and ongoing client support engagements.
- Gather business requirements and translate them into effective Workday Payroll solutions.
- Provide functional expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment, and stabilization.
- Partner with clients to identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.
- Provide consultative guidance and recommendations based on Workday leading practices and industry standards.
- Troubleshoot complex payroll system issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive resolution.
- Serve as a point of escalation for payroll-related client concerns and system issues.
- Support clients through organizational, process, and system changes impacting payroll operations.
Workday Payroll & Reporting
- Configure and maintain Workday Payroll functionality based on client requirements.
- Create, modify, and troubleshoot Workday reports and dashboards to support business and operational reporting needs.
- Analyze payroll processes and reporting requirements to deliver scalable solutions.
- Support testing activities, including unit testing, integration testing, payroll parallel testing, and user acceptance testing.
- Collaborate with technical and integration teams to ensure accurate data flow and system functionality.
Project Leadership & Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with clients, project team members, and internal stakeholders.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced consultants through knowledge sharing and review of deliverables.
- Participate in governance meetings, client status meetings, and project reviews as needed.
- Support Client Service Managers, Service Delivery Managers, and Domain Leads in strategic client discussions.
- Contribute to internal initiatives focused on methodology improvements, process optimization, documentation, and best practice development.
Compliance & Best Practices
- Stay informed on payroll-related legislative, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
- Support clients in evaluating and implementing required payroll updates and changes.
- Promote adherence to established service delivery standards, implementation methodologies, and payroll best practices.
Business Development Support
- Provide Workday Payroll subject matter expertise during sales pursuits, client presentations, and solution discussions as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4+ years of experience in payroll, payroll technology consulting, HR technology consulting, HCM consulting, or a related field.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Payroll.
- Experience supporting client-facing projects, implementations, or managed services engagements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience creating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Workday reports.
- Experience supporting Workday Payroll implementations, optimization projects, or ongoing support engagements.
- Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and compliance considerations.
- Experience with Workday HCM and related Workday modules.
- Understanding of payroll operations, service delivery models, and process improvement methodologies.
- Experience mentoring junior consultants or leading workstreams within larger projects.
