About the role
The HR Technician works in collaboration with the HR Business Partner to provide technical human resources services and assistance to job applicants and the employees of MVH - Montevideo in the areas of employee and position transaction processing; employee onboarding; benefits and leave administration; recruitment and vacancy-filling; and HR records filing and retention.
Responsibilities
- Processing data in an HR information system (HRIS) or electronic applicant tracking system (ATS) sufficient to maintain accurate records
- Staffing/vacancy-filling support
- Advising managers, supervisors, and/or employees on various HR inquiries
- Benefits administration
- HR reporting sufficient to create, modify, and run electronic reports
- Maintaining HR records such as personnel, hiring, training and medical files
- Using an HRIS sufficient to review, enter and maintain employee and position information
- Using Microsoft Office suite of products (such as Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Organizational and prioritization skills sufficient to independently initiate and complete a variety of tasks
- Interpersonal and customer service skills sufficient to develop positive work relationships and provide accurate and timely service to employees, applicants and others
Requirements
- Two (2) years of human resources (HR) experience that includes at least two of the following:
- Processing data in an HR information system (HRIS) or electronic applicant tracking system (ATS) sufficient to maintain accurate records
- Staffing/vacancy-filling support
- Advising managers, supervisors, and/or employees on various HR inquiries
- Benefits administration
- HR reporting sufficient to create, modify, and run electronic reports
- Maintaining HR records such as personnel, hiring, training and medical files
- Using an HRIS sufficient to review, enter and maintain employee and position information
- Using Microsoft Office suite of products (such as Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
- Organizational and prioritization skills sufficient to independently initiate and complete a variety of tasks
- Interpersonal and customer service skills sufficient to develop positive work relationships and provide accurate and timely service to employees, applicants and others
Preferred Qualifications
- More than two years of HR experience as described above
- Experience using an HRIS such as SEMA4 (Statewide Employee Management System) or similar PeopleSoft HRIS
- Knowledge of state and federal employment law such as Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Minnesota Paid Leave and worker’s compensation
- Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws
- Knowledge of reporting tools such as Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE) or similar tools
