Position Summary

Tri-State Drilling is seeking an HR Specialist to make an impact on how we attract, retain, and grow the talent needed to support our expanding operations. In this role, you’ll drive full-cycle recruiting, strengthen our employer brand, and help build onboarding programs. The ideal candidate is experienced in both recruiting execution and onboarding, has a creative touch for employer branding, and has an interest in learning more in HR. The position is based at our Plymouth, MN office. This position reports to the HR Manager.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition

  • Lead recruiting efforts for union construction, shop and corporate positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to define job requirements, build effective job postings, and develop recruiting strategies to fill open positions.
  • Manage the interview process, ensuring consistent, compliant, and positive candidate experiences.
  • Manage offers, negotiation, and acceptance processes in alignment with company compensation practices.
  • Maintain and optimize the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to ensure accurate job postings, candidate tracking, reporting and positive candidate experience.
  • Source candidates through multiple channels (LinkedIn, Indeed, ZoomInfo, etc.) with a focus on building strong talent pipelines.

Onboarding & Talent Support

  • Support and continuously improve the company’s onboarding program for both field and office employees.
  • Complete pre-employment activities including background checks, drug screens, DOT driver screens, new hire paperwork, and system setup with support staff.
  • Partner with hiring managers and field leaders to ensure structured onboarding plans are in place and executed.
  • Ensure compliance with onboarding documentation, I-9 requirements, and applicable employment regulations.
  • Coordinate new hire orientation with support staff and ensure consistent onboarding experience across divisions.
  • Monitor new hires and identify opportunities to improve early employee experience.
  • Facilitate and track performance review processes for 90-day new hire reviews, and annual office and field reviews.

Talent Marketing

  • Manage the Tri-State brand for candidates in collaboration with marketing to strengthen the company’s presence in the labor market via the careers page, social media and other company media.
  • Create and coordinate social media recruiting content to promote open positions, company culture, and employee stories.
  • Build partnerships with trade schools, technical colleges, universities, and workforce organizations to develop talent pipelines.
  • Coordinate participation in career fairs or school events.
  • Support and expand internship and/or co-op early talent partnerships by partnering with the Training Department on opportunities with schools or unions.

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with frequent computer and phone work; regular interaction with field and office personnel.
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and manage electronic records accurately.

Pay

The expected pay range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000. Offers are based on various factors, including skill set, qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related reasons.
