About the Role
The HR Operations Specialist supports the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of student employees, assists with full-time and adjunct faculty recruiting, tracks experiential learning programs and reporting, and helps with department events and office management. This part-time position offers flexibility, making it an excellent fit for candidates seeking adaptable scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate student recruitment, hiring, and onboarding, ensuring compliance with university hiring policies and procedures
- Coordinate and perform HR business processes, such as job changes (compensation changes, lateral moves, promotions) and end jobs
- Conduct regular audits and follow-ups to ensure hiring processes are completed timely and accurately within the HR system
- Maintain accurate records of student employment and experiential learning programs and reporting
- Support department chair with the HR components of full-time and adjunct faculty hiring, including liaising with the college HR Business Partner
- Create and update training manual for student hiring
- Aid office manager and other staff with office responsibilities and event execution
Requirements
- A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
- Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of experience in a human resources or customer service environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent customer service skills
- Computer skills, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Suite (Sheets, Docs)
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
- Ability to manage self well, handle pressure, and maintain confidentiality
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in human resources (preferred)
- Knowledge of HR programs offered by the University (i.e. Workday) (preferred)
- Awareness of laws and government regulations impacting HR programs (preferred)
- Familiarity with higher education (preferred)
