About the role
D&H is a 100+ year-old employee-owned technology distributor offering end-to-end solutions for resellers, retailers, and the clients they serve across SMB and consumer markets. As a D&H co-owner, you’ll join a collaborative culture that empowers employee co-owners to deliver industry-leading service. This position will travel to cover HR Manager vacancies (vacation, leaves, turnover) across distribution centers and, when not traveling, lead or assist HR projects for the network and corporate offices.
Responsibilities
- Handle full-cycle HR within distribution centers: high-volume and salaried recruitment, employee engagement, training & development, new-employee orientation, benefits management, safety coordination, workers’ compensation and unemployment claim management, employee relations, employee activities, and time-keeping audits.
- Partner with operations management to ensure consistent, fair application of policy and procedure across multiple locations, adapting to local employment laws.
- Lead or support HR projects, including revamping onboarding and new-hire orientations, creating a network-wide training program for warehouse co-owners and temporary workers, and developing supervisor and lead development programs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of HR generalist or management experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to cover locations as needed.
- Project-based work and project-management experience preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Experience managing leaves, including workers’ compensation case resolution, FMLA, ADA, and other leave types.
- Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, or emotional issues.
- Strong relationship-building skills with co-owners, internal departments, and external customers/vendors.
- Ability to make recommendations that align with company standards, policies, and regulations.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proficiency in clerical and administrative tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizing, prioritizing, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills, including operating with urgency when necessary.
- Experience with HRIS and time-keeping systems (TCP preferred).
- Fluency in English; bilingual skills a plus.
- Full-time position (40+ hours per week) with overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
