About the Role
Carter Myers Automotive is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead HR operations for a workforce of approximately 1,248 employees across multiple locations. Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, this leadership role partners closely with business leaders to oversee employee relations, talent acquisition, payroll, compliance, performance management, and workforce development. The HR Manager will lead a team of HR, Recruiting, and Payroll professionals while driving strategic HR initiatives that support organizational growth and an exceptional employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Partner with leadership to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Lead and mentor a team of HR, Recruiting, and Payroll professionals.
- Provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and workplace concerns.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
- Oversee talent acquisition, recruiting operations, onboarding, and workforce planning.
- Manage HR operations, including employee records, leave administration, policy management, and HR programs.
- Oversee payroll operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.
- Utilize Paylocity and HR technology platforms to improve HR processes and reporting.
- Analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead employee engagement, retention, recognition, and organizational development initiatives.
- Support leadership development, succession planning, and employee training programs.
- Drive continuous process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- At least 3 years of leadership experience managing HR, Recruiting, and/or Payroll teams.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, performance management, HR compliance, and employment law.
- Experience supporting HR operations within a multi-location organization.
- Experience using HRIS platforms; Paylocity experience is strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to coach leaders and influence business decisions.
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience leading Talent Acquisition or Recruiting teams.
- Experience overseeing payroll operations.
- Multi-state employment law and compliance experience.
- Experience supporting organizations with over 1,000 employees.
- Experience with change management, employee engagement, organizational development, HR analytics, and workforce planning.
