About the role
The Human Resources Manager will provide senior support in all related Human Resources functions, serving management, employees, and outside clients. They will implement Menzies policies and procedures, analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations on human resources issues. The role involves coordinating employee relations, providing escalated counselling, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and offering coaching to management.
Responsibilities
- Serve management, employees, and outside clients, handling day-to-day questions, concerns, and resolving work-related problems.
- Implement Menzies policies and procedures as laid down in the Eight Pillars of Management.
- Analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations on a variety of human resources issues.
- Counsel employees and management on policies, collective agreements, programs, and government regulations.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting for unionized benefits and dues.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Provide coaching to management on employee and organizational issues.
- Act as a catalyst/change agent by implementing recommendations that improve efficiency and operations.
- Perform at the strategic level and be a hands-on working leader, a doer.
- Assess, monitor, train, and develop all Human Resources staff (as applicable).
- Ensure Menzies business units remain fully compliant with internal control standards and all relevant industry, regulatory, and Federal legislated requirements.
- Ensure all work is carried out observing safe working practices of self and others.
- Confer with Station Managers on complex issues requiring direction or approval.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent, CHRL designation.
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years’ senior, progressive, and relevant HR experience.
- Thorough knowledge of all related HR laws, regulations, with preference in the Federal sector.
- Experience in a multiple unionized environment is preferred.
- Proven ability to work under pressure, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
- Experienced dealing with work of a confidential and sensitive nature.
- Strong interpersonal skills, solid problem-solving skills, competence in multitasking, with the ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with authority members, peers, employees, and outside.
- Computer literate, knowledge of Microsoft Packages, UltiPro, Outlook, and Insurance software.
