Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department. This role provides hands-on experience across multiple HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR compliance.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate employee records and HRIS data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies.
  • Supports benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, employee inquiries, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Supports Senior HR Manager with tracking compliance across Human Resources.
  • Affords assistance with employee relations matters by responding to basic questions regarding policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Collaborates with onboarding, training, and orientation activities.
  • Affords support to performance management processes, including documentation and tracking reviews.
  • Affords support to employment verifications, HR audits, reporting, and compliance-related tasks.
  • Prepares HR correspondence, reports, and presentations as needed.
  • Supports special HR projects and initiatives.
  • Manages meeting and event coordination for the Reston office, including coordinating availability, reserving meeting rooms, arranging for catering and equipment needs, preparing and distributing agenda and meeting materials, taking minutes/notes, and coordinating action items.
  • Affords coordination to the People Development & Learning Manager with coordination of training programs, workshops, and development initiatives as needed.
  • Affords support to learning and development programs by maintaining training records, tracking participation, and assisting with evaluations.
  • Provides administrative and project support to the CHRO, including preparing materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Conducts basic research and data gathering to support strategic HR and people development projects.
  • Maintains confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field with 0-2 years of HR-related experience; or no degree with 2-3 years of stated relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service mindset.
  • Basic knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
  • Computer literate with the ability to learn new software applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with dedicated follow-through.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Nice to Have

  • HR credential or certification achieved (or in process).
  • Experience with a specific HRIS platform (preferably Paycom) beyond just general awareness.
  • Experience using Microsoft SharePoint or Teams for document management and coordination.
  • Knowledge of I-9/E-Verify compliance processes.
  • Exposure to benefits administration or open enrollment processes.
  • Basic understanding of FMLA, ADA, FLSA, or other employment law frameworks.
  • Experience supporting or conducting onboarding programs.
  • Event or meeting coordination experience in a professional setting.
  • Prior internship or co-op in an HR department.

Compensation

In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected hourly range for this position is $28.37 – $35.46. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
