About the role
The position supports the Human Resource Department's mission of providing professional, comprehensive, accurate, and timely human resource services while serving as a strategic partner supporting the mission of the University of Illinois College of Medicine Rockford.
Responsibilities
- Prepare recruitment advertising & postings using university systems for civil service and extra help employees in various College of Medicine Rockford clinical locations including correctional medicine.
- Participate in recruitment activities as needed.
- Review and assess applicant qualifications to determine eligibility for civil service examinations and administer credential assessment testing for application employment categories.
- Provide assistance to supervisors with interview processes and related activities as requested, including scheduling, question preparation, and reference checks.
- Facilitate employee-focused onboarding for new hires, including but not limited to initiation and processing of UI new hire forms, I-9’s, background checks, health clearances, and licensing/credentials verifications.
- Provide a high level of customer support and maintain a wide knowledge base of Human Resource systems, providing written and verbal responses to supervisor and employee inquiries on HR and payroll matters.
- Travel to and conduct regular onsite visits to various clinical locations to provide HR support to staff and supervisors to address any questions or concerns.
- Process separation transactions, terminal benefit payouts, and coordinate offboarding activities, including communicating HR-related transition information to employees and supervisors.
- Maintain working knowledge of UIC policy and procedures, and state and federal employment regulations, acting as a resource for units, and communicating changes to ensure compliance.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.
- Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties. Professional-level human resources duties include recruiting, interviewing, labor relations, performance evaluations, personnel records/HRIS management, and benefits administration as a primary job function.

- Illinois residency is required within 180 days of employment.

Pay
The budgeted salary range for the position is $57,000 - $62,000, based on a full-time equivalent (FTE). Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
