About the Role
The HR Generalist reports directly to the Senior HR Business Partner for Corporate Services and serves as a trusted HR partner to leaders, managers, and employees across Corporate Services within the health system. This role provides day-to-day HR guidance and support across a broad range of areas, including employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, employee engagement, organizational changes, and growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Serves as the primary contact and provides support and guidance to staff regarding HR-related matters, employee relations issues, and payroll matters. Directs certain issues to corporate HR departments when needed.
- Visits corporate service locations across the health system to provide on-site HR support, ensuring a positive working environment and compliance with HR policies.
- Conducts prompt, thorough, accurate, and defensible workplace investigations into allegations of misconduct, including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and workplace violence.
- Documents information from employee complaints/concerns, manages leaves of absence, and files employee disciplinary actions received from managers.
- Mitigates organizational risk by collaborating with Legal and Employee & Labor Relations to ensure policies and procedures are consistently and fairly applied.
- Acts as a liaison between supervisors and the Compensation department, updating job descriptions and ensuring proper assessment of salary and title.
- Provides advice and counsel to managers on structuring roles and the impact of potential reorganization.
- Facilitates Lunch & Learn workshops and other learning opportunities to strengthen manager and employee knowledge, skills, and effectiveness.
- Reviews HR metrics, trends, and data to identify opportunities for targeted training, education, and employee development initiatives.
- Partners with the Senior HR Business Partner and department leaders to assess learning and development needs and recommend training solutions.
- Identifies recurring employee relations and performance management trends and develops or recommends educational resources to address areas of opportunity.
- Evaluates training effectiveness and participant feedback to enhance future learning programs.
- Acts as a partner to leaders and employees regarding complex employee relations and policy interpretation.
- Produces and organizes reports for senior management, analyzing HR data and making recommendations on compensation and staffing.
- Liaises between internal HR departments and corporate services administration.
- Addresses employee inquiries regarding benefits and growth opportunities, providing internal career counseling to employees and assisting managers.
- Identifies and understands the impact of retention and turnover, working closely with talent acquisition to meet department needs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of progressive experience in two or more HR disciplines.
