An established law firm is seeking a part-time professional to support everyday HR functions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate onboarding for new hires, including scheduling IT training, preparing workstations, and creating orientation documents.
- Facilitate team introductions, office tours, and meeting schedules on the first day.
- Create and maintain new hire profiles, review and approve wage notices, manage I-9 verifications, and oversee the eVerify process.
- Serve as a liaison between employees and Human Resources, responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
- Oversee and implement the payroll process, ensuring timely and accurate processing of all transactions, including salaries, benefits, bonuses, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Coordinate with Talent Acquisition on employee referral bonus payments, track payment schedules, and ensure timely processing.
- Track and oversee all bonus and commission payments for attorneys and paralegals.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Coordinate routine benefits processing and answer benefit-related questions for staff, working with Insperity to ensure timely enrollments.
- Maintain employee benefits files and update payroll records accordingly.
- Track ancillary benefits such as streaming services, box store memberships, and gym memberships.
- Collaborate with Marketing to prepare and maintain a benefits overview for new hires.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, and best practices for payroll and benefits.
- Prepare and oversee desktop procedures and policies for payroll, benefits, leave administration, and retirement plans.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with effective negotiation tactics.
- Knowledge of payroll and employment laws.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in HRIS; knowledge of PEOs is a plus.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- At least two years of experience in Human Resources, specifically in administering payroll and benefits.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
Hourly rates and/or salaries may reflect total compensation packages including bonus and fringe benefits.
