HR Generalist

About the role

The HR Generalist position is designed for individuals early in their HR careers or those with strong operational backgrounds looking to transition into a people-focused role. Candidates may have experience as HR coordinators, assistants, or in dealership or retail operations.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day HR operations across assigned dealership locations
• Serve as a reliable resource for employees and managers on HR policies, processes, and questions
• Aid in onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring accuracy and care
• Maintain accurate employee records, processing status changes, and ensuring documentation is complete and compliant
• Support employee relations by listening with empathy, documenting accurately, and escalating situations appropriately
• Ensure compliance with HRIS systems and federal, state, and local employment regulations across multiple states
• Partner with managers on performance management processes, supporting documentation, coaching conversations, and corrective action procedures
• Contribute to HR projects and initiatives that support Swickard's growth, culture, and employee experience

Requirements

• HR experience preferred, but not required
• Open to early-career HR professionals or candidates with strong operational backgrounds
• Familiarity with HRIS systems and HR processes a plus, especially Paylocity experience
• High integrity and respect for confidentiality, ensuring discretion and handling sensitive information with care
• Clear, empathetic communicator, comfortable working with employees and managers at all levels
• Organized and accurate under pressure, managing multiple priorities without losing detail or follow-through
• Curious and coachable, asking good questions, learning quickly, and applying feedback
• A genuine care for people, not just as a professional value, but as a personal one
