About the Role
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for full-cycle HR tactics supporting the Upstate and Downstate New York regions while aligning with company goals and employee relations. This position reports directly to the HR Business Partner and works closely to support HR priorities and business needs.
Schedule
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST, Monday – Friday
Location
Primarily remote, but the employee must be located or planning to relocate to the Upstate New York Region (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, etc.). Occasional travel to New York City for team meetings (1–2 times per year) and regional office visits or acquisition support (typically 1–2 days at a time, with expenses covered).
Responsibilities
- Provide full-service employee relations support, including conducting disciplinary conversations, investigations, and terminations as needed
- Maintain general benefits knowledge and HRIS support, including information management
- Ensure compliance with ongoing regulations and certifications
- Support recruitment as needed
- Coordinate employee leaves in compliance with federal, state, and local legislation and company policies
- Stay informed of employment and case law impacting the supported regions
- Deliver high-level customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Regularly review compensation to ensure FLSA compliance
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and managers, escalating complex or sensitive matters as needed
- Review and create internal policies and procedures to ensure best practices
- Maintain working knowledge and application of HIPAA and OSHA compliance
- Assist with other HR projects and initiatives as needed
Requirements
- 4–5 years of experience in Human Resources preferred; minimum 1–2 years as a Generalist required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Healthcare recruitment experience highly preferred
- Experience using an HRIS system required; Workday preferred
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Excellent employee and candidate relationship-building skills
- Agile, fast-paced, and innovative mindset
- Valid driver’s license
Pay
$60,000 – $70,000
