About the role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Manager to lead all aspects of Human Resources operations, including employee relations, compliance, performance management, recruitment, benefits administration, HR systems, and organizational development.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Lead the implementation and execution of HR policies, programs, and strategic initiatives.
- Guide supervisors through employee onboarding, introductory evaluations, annual performance reviews, and employee development.
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters, providing guidance on disciplinary actions, performance concerns, workplace investigations, and policy interpretation.
- Administer, interpret, and enforce Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), while partnering with union representatives and leadership on labor relations matters.
- Collaborate with department leaders to assess workforce planning and staffing needs.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, retention, and separation processes while supporting the full employee lifecycle.
- Maintain, audit, and ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of personnel records and HR documentation.
- Develop, monitor, and analyze HR metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead HR projects from planning through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Manage departmental budgets, review expenditures, and approve invoices while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
- Partner with Finance to support payroll processing and related HR functions as needed.
- Provide operational support when necessary, including document management, mail processing, and maintaining a safe and organized office environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned with a collaborative, team-first mindset.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive Human Resources management experience.
- Direct experience managing labor union relationships and administering and enforcing Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) is a strict requirement.
- Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and labor regulations.
- Experience handling employee relations, investigations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated experience leading HR projects and implementing organizational initiatives.
- Experience managing departmental budgets and fiscal planning.
- Proficiency with MacOS, Google Workspace (G Suite), and HR systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Able to maintain confidentiality while building strong relationships across all levels of an organization.
- Able to work effectively with diverse employees, leadership teams, and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or HRCI certification.
- Previous Human Resources experience within a nonprofit organization.
- Experience supporting payroll administration and HRIS management.
- Proven ability to balance strategic planning with day-to-day HR operations in a fast-paced environment.
