About the Role

We are looking for an HR Generalist to support core human resources operations for a scientific instrument manufacturing organization in the Oxford, Massachusetts area. This role will oversee employee records, benefits administration, and day-to-day HR support while helping maintain compliance and a positive employee experience. The position is ideal for someone who can balance administrative accuracy with strong interpersonal skills across benefits, employee relations, and recruiting activities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer employee benefit programs, including medical coverage enrollment, disability-related documentation, beneficiary updates, and separation-related benefit processing.
  • Review and update employee insurance records and coordinate accurate payroll deductions tied to benefit elections and changes.
  • Maintain organized and confidential personnel files and ensure HR documentation is current, complete, and properly archived.
  • Support affirmative action tracking by monitoring applicant activity, hires, promotions, and terminations and keeping related records up to date.
  • Process employee leave and disability matters, including claim coordination, response follow-up, and timely invoicing for employees on leave when required.
  • Assist with annual medical plan renewal activities and help communicate benefit updates during open enrollment periods.
  • Contribute to recruiting efforts by supporting hiring activities such as candidate coordination, administrative follow-through, and onboarding preparation.
  • Provide day-to-day employee relations support by addressing workplace concerns professionally and escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Prepare HR reports and use system data to support routine administration, record accuracy, and operational decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a human resources generalist role with hands-on exposure to benefits administration, employee relations, and recruiting.
  • Working knowledge of HR compliance practices, including federal and state employment requirements; familiarity with affirmative action processes is a plus.
  • Experience using HRIS and payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, along with strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel.
  • Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion, sound judgment, and a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust across employee groups and respond clearly to questions or concerns.
  • Dependable, organized, and capable of handling multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Manufacturing industry experience is preferred but not required.
