Provides front-line supervisory support in the Human Resources department. Assists with the administration of day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, payroll, safety, recruitment, employee development, retention, productivity, and quality standards. Reviews HR data to recommend strategies that support organizational objectives and foster a high-performance, customer-centered work culture.
Responsibilities
- Assist with all aspects of employee orientation to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and address personnel issues such as turnover, retention, absenteeism, productivity, and hiring costs.
- Serve as a liaison between management and employees by handling questions and resolving work-related problems.
- Review and assist in developing training standards to ensure consistent and improved training across departments.
- Participate in and conduct employee investigations, making recommendations to reduce exposure risks.
- Conduct interviews for open positions and communicate results to HR Manager, Supervisors, and Managers.
- Assist with workforce planning, succession planning, and career development.
- Develop and maintain talent management processes, including services with temporary employment vendors.
- Collaborate with the HR Manager to develop effective recruitment strategies.
- Represent the organization at local events (e.g., Chamber of Commerce, SHRM, community celebrations).
- Administer new employee onboarding and orientation.
- Monitor employee morale and company culture.
- Manage leave administration, including FMLA, ADA, modified duty, and short-term/long-term disability programs.
- Communicate, implement, and interpret HR policies to ensure fair and consistent administration.
- Provide support to the HR Manager and serve as backup in their absence.
Requirements
- Degree with five or more years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a manufacturing/distribution environment.
- SHRM certification is a plus.
- Experience interpreting and applying HR policies, procedures, programs, and processes.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
- Exceptionally strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong focus on customer service and ability to work with diverse groups at all organizational levels.
- Professional commitment to HR development and maintenance.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance multiple priorities with minimal supervision and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Excellent follow-through, judgment, and discretion with sensitive/confidential information.
- Commitment to high safety standards and compliance with all safety policies and workplace injury protocols.
- Willingness to adjust schedule as needed for HR visibility; excellent attendance and predictability required.
