HR Generalist
About the role
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting a broad range of human resources functions, such as recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, policy administration, compliance, and other HR initiatives. This role is critical to ensuring all company policies and procedures are enforced consistently, accurate maintenance of employee files and documentation, and fostering a positive employee experience throughout the entire employee life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
- Provide day-to-day guidance and support to line management in managing hourly employees, including coaching, counseling, career development, and disciplinary actions with a high level of confidentiality; escalate complex issues to HR Manager as appropriate
- Foster a collaborative work environment by working closely with both management and hourly employees to improve work relationships, enhance morale, and drive productivity and retention across the workforce.
- Act as a primary point of contact for day-to-day transactional employee questions and concerns, leading by example of our open-door policy.
- Provide on-site support to employees for general benefit-related questions and resolve any benefit-related issues, ensuring compliance with company policies in collaboration with benefits team members
- Support payroll processing, time and attendance systems, and scheduling for hourly employees. Ensure that all processes are in compliance with company policies.
- Recruiting, hiring, and onboarding new salaried/hourly employees, including posting job openings, conducting interviews, and administering the hiring process.
- Assist with HR reporting and auditing. Support and assist with various HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Organize and maintain personnel files and all relevant HR records in compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Prepare, maintain and conduct new hire onboarding and orientation activities to ensure all new hires are properly integrated into the company.
- Be available to work outside of normal work hours on occasion to fulfill responsibilities for off shifts, manage urgent HR issues, or support operations during peak times and occasional weekends.
- Act as a champion for company policy enforcement and alignment in collaboration with line managers and HR Manager. Assist with employee engagement initiatives, employee recognition, events and survey.
Qualifications
At least 1-3 years in a HR Generalist or adjacent position required, experience in a manufacturing setting preferred. Bachelor’s degree in business management or human resources, or equivalent industry experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including talent acquisition, human performance, and federal and state employment laws.
- Safety conscious and willing to work in an industrial environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
- Disciplined time management and multi-tasking skills.
- Payroll and scheduling experience in ADP is a plus.
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong personal initiative and perseverance.
- Strong ambition for continuous learning and career growth; willingness to take on additional responsibilities, and desire for future promotion.
- Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is required.
