HR Generalist

About the role

The Human Resources Generalist supports a variety of HR functions including payroll, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations. This role offers opportunities for deepening HR expertise, contributing to team initiatives, and career development.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll, including report coordination with Accounting, and resolve payroll-related inquiries.
• Support HRIS administration, system improvements, process enhancements, and accurate maintenance of employee data and records.
• Support full-cycle recruitment and onboarding, including job needs assessments, sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers, new hire paperwork, orientation, and cross-functional coordination.
• Manage employee benefit programs, process benefit changes, and coordinate monthly benefits billing.
• Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, HR policies, and procedures.
• Support employee relations, leave administration, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
• Cross-functional coordination for HR programs and initiatives such as employee engagement, recognition, DE&I, and training and development programs.
• Aid in training and development programs, administer HR policies, employee acknowledgements, employment verifications, and other HR documentation.
• Assist with special projects, meetings, and other organizational needs.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.
• HR certification (e.g. SHRM-CP or PHR) is a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in human resources or a related administrative role.
• Practiced knowledge of HR principles, labor laws, and best practices.
• Experience with HRIS platforms.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Payroll is processed accurately and on time each cycle, with minimal correction requests.
• New hires complete onboarding on schedule and report a smooth, well-coordinated start.
• Open requisitions are filled within target timelines with qualified, well-screened candidates.
• Employee records and HRIS data stay accurate, complete, and audit-ready at all times.
• Benefits billing and changes are processed correctly with no missed deadlines.
• Employees and leadership see HR as responsive, approachable, and reliable for questions and issues.
• Compliance deadlines (policy acknowledgments, leave administration, regulatory filings) are consistently met.
