About the role
The HR Generalist position at McLane Company is designed to support the Human Resources Team in maintaining compliance with company policies and legal guidelines. This role involves assisting in training programs, facilitating mandatory training sessions, managing recruitment processes, and promoting a positive work environment.
Responsibilities
- Aid in and observe various training programs to ensure compliance with McLane Company's practices and federal laws.
- Facilitate mandatory harassment/substance abuse training, safety training, and organize special classes for teammates.
- Maintain logo clothing, handle relocation billing, manage FMLA records, Workers Compensation investigations, and document/report evacuations.
- Coordinate special events such as CMN, United Way, Health Fair, teammate parties, etc.
- Support the HR Manager as needed, ensuring the employment process adheres to legal guidelines and treating applicants fairly and consistently.
- Manage requisitions and develop recruitment strategies, including advertising and reviewing applications and resumes.
- Coordinate career fairs, communicate application statuses to applicants, check references, and verify previous employment.
- Advise supervisors on hiring/offer procedures, arrange pre-employment paperwork, and conduct New Hire Orientation.
- Promote teammate morale through open communication and policy interpretation.
- Assist in facilitating New Hire Orientation and interacting daily with teammates and managers.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Have a bachelor’s degree.
- Have 2+ years of experience in Human Resources.
- Possess hands-on experience in training and coaching.
- Understand safety practice guidelines.
- Have strong MS Office skills including Word and Excel.
- Be able to identify and work through problems and conflicting issues in a clear and diplomatic manner.
- Be able to review and interpret data, transactions, policies, and business practices.
- Be an effective communicator (verbally and written) with teammates at all levels.
- Be able to work in a diverse and fast-paced environment.
