About the Role
The HR Generalist supports the full employee lifecycle while managing accurate and timely payroll processing. This role serves as a trusted resource to employees and management, ensuring consistent application of company policies and providing responsive support across a broad range of HR functions. The position requires a detail-oriented and highly organized individual with a strong focus on payroll accuracy, compliance, confidentiality, and excellent employee service.
Reports to: Director of Finance & Administration
Responsibilities
- Manage and process weekly payroll for hourly and salary employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment.
- Coordinate payroll tax filings and year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and employee tax documentation.
- Monitor timekeeping and attendance records, review timesheets for accuracy, and resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Manage vacation and sick accruals in the company payroll system.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state employment laws and company policies, including required payroll and HR reporting for multi-state entities.
- Prepare payroll-related reports, reconciliations, and documentation, and assist with audits as needed.
- Manage the employee onboarding process, including new-hire paperwork, background and reference checks, drug testing, HRIS and company system setup, training, and benefits enrollment.
- Foster new employee success with 30/60/90 day acceleration plans.
- Work with the Office Coordinator to plan company events, social activities, birthday and anniversary recognition, and team-building activities that nurture company values and culture.
- Implement employee retention practices, including collecting feedback via surveys, focus groups, and exit interviews.
- Manage the off-boarding process, ensuring the security of company data and records.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files and records, including job descriptions and documentation of corrective disciplinary actions.
- Assist with annual processes such as benefits enrollment, performance reviews, compensation updates, and employee handbook revisions.
- Partner with managers on Performance Improvement Plans to ensure proper records and support successful outcomes for both employees and the company.
- Partner with managers on annual training and development, including monthly reporting throughout the year.
- Roll out required federal and state statutory trainings and maintain current labor law posters.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop and administer HR programs such as career pathing, coaching, and mentoring programs.
- Maintain daily timesheet and expense report entries and submit them accurately and timely.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Office products.
- Experience with payroll/HRIS systems. Paylocity experience preferred.

Education, Experience & Knowledge
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant HR and payroll experience with a strong understanding of core HR functions, including payroll, benefits administration, and policy compliance.
- Associate’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
- Maintains membership in SHRM.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
- Use of computer and office equipment.

- Valid driver’s license in your state of residence and reliable personal vehicle.
