About the role

This position supports core HR functions for the Temple Department, requiring expert professional knowledge. Employees at this level operate with a high degree of latitude, handle complex issues, and report to the Manager of Department HR. The role involves frequent collaboration with workforce leaders, department HR teams, and Centers of Excellence (COEs).

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, administer, and implement HR policies and guiding principles.
  • Lead standard recruiting processes, including screening, interviewing, and consulting.
  • Coach leadership on compensation decisions and performance management.
  • Facilitate performance management calibration among leadership.
  • Lead workforce relations efforts and resolve disputes.
  • Conduct benefit and compensation analysis, develop proposals, and manage approval requests and merit increases.
  • Resolve compensation and benefit issues.
  • Administer promotion and in-line adjustment review and approval processes.
  • Support reduction in force (RIF) efforts.
  • Manage labor relations for a unionized workforce.
  • May act as a workstream lead, directing and assigning day-to-day work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Six years of industry-related experience.
  • Expert knowledge of HR operations.
  • Familiarity with best practices of HR functions.

To perform the essential functions of this job, physical requirements may include sitting for extended periods and using computer monitors/equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
