About the Role

The Human Resources Generalist 1 provides a full range of human resources services to facility staff, including human resources transactions, leave and attendance, benefits, employee relations, classification and compensation, and other human resources programs. Individuals selected are expected to create and maintain positive working relationships with employees, managers/supervisors, and executive leadership within their respective areas. Successful candidates must exercise sound judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting HR and departmental guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on human resources rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Prepare, process, audit, and correct human resources transactions such as employee appointments, promotions, demotions, separations, transfers, reclassifications, and salary changes; maintain employee personnel files.
  • Ensure completion of the time and attendance process by all staff and managers; resolve exceptions as needed to ensure all staff are paid accurately and timely.
  • Assist employees with FMLA, workers’ compensation, extended leaves of absence, and employee benefits.
  • Conduct orientation and onboarding for newly hired staff members, including training on policies and procedures, enrollment in insurance and benefits programs, and issuance of employee ID badges and parking passes.
  • Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on hiring new employees, including navigating the state’s hiring process, preparing interview questions, and interpreting assessment results.
  • Ensure employee recognition through the state’s Service Award program.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Qualifying full-time professional or paraprofessional human resources experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.

Monthly: $4,057.00 - $6,099.00
