HR Business Partner- Cerritos, Ontario & Corona CA
About the role
The HRBP will provide day-to-day HR functional support to multiple facilities in California. This position will have responsibility for employee relations, performance management, talent management, and human resources metrics.
Responsibilities
- Champions and supports Smurfit Westrock safety programs and policies.
- Create strategic business partnerships with front-line employees and supervisors to promote positive employee relations.
- Create progressive discipline plans to monitor, review, and make suggestions for corrective actions for attendance, punctuality, conduct, and performance issues.
- Implement human resource policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulatory requirements including EEO, FMLA, ADA, and federal and state wage and hour laws.
- Coach and advise front-line employees and managers regarding employee relations policies, policy and procedure interpretation, and proper operating procedures.
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to manage the recruiting process and ensure accurate, market-based compensation recommendations are provided and best-in-class onboarding practices are utilized.
- Investigate questions and/or complaints to resolve employee relations issues.
- Conduct periodic training on applicable topics including sexual harassment, diversity, and employment law.
- Partner with safety-related and performance excellence processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of Human Resources experience.
- SHRM or HRCI certifications are a plus.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Ability to investigate and assess employee conflicts objectively and solve such issues using a variety of methods and tools, including coaching and conflict resolution.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and HRIS systems.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Bring assignments to successful completion under specific deadlines.
- Effective at multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to lead change.
- Team building and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical/problem-solving ability.
Qualifications

Pay
The salary range for this position is $81,000.00 - $135,000.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado.
