About the role
We are partnering with a well-known UK retailer to recruit an experienced HR Business Partner to support their retail estate. This is a field-based role with the expectation that you'll spend a minimum of 3 days per week within stores, partnering closely with Area Managers and Store Leadership teams to get the very best from their people while shaping and delivering the wider people agenda.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Area Managers and Store Leaders to translate commercial priorities into clear people plans.
- Act as a trusted advisor across workforce planning, organisational design, and capability.
- Coach and develop leaders to build high-performing and engaged teams.
- Lead the talent and performance agenda across your region, including succession planning and identifying future talent.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention across the retail estate.
- Provide pragmatic and commercially focused advice across complex ER and employment law matters.
- Use people data (turnover, absence, engagement, ER trends) to identify challenges and drive action.
- Support engagement, wellbeing, and recognition initiatives across the business.
- Work closely with the wider People team and Shared Services to ensure a consistent colleague experience.
- Lead and support wider people projects and change initiatives.
Requirements
- Experienced HR Business Partner, ideally from retail or another fast-paced, multi-site environment.
- Commercially minded with a strong understanding of partnering with operational business.
- Confident coach and influencer who can build credibility with leaders at all levels.
- Strong employment law knowledge with experience managing complex ER.
- Experience using people data and insight to influence decisions.
- Organised, resilient, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
- Willing to travel extensively across your region and spend a minimum of 3 days per week in stores.
