About the Role
The HR Business Partner will be a key member of the US HR team, responsible for developing and driving HR priorities that support critical strategic objectives. This role requires partnering with key leaders across the US to translate business needs into HR processes and systems. The incumbent will balance strategic leadership and tactical HR support while championing AES values to shape organizational culture and climate.
Responsibilities
- Implements people programs and policies
- Uses talent tools and advises critical actions
- Advises and coaches leaders at all levels
- Applies analytics to inform data-driven decisions and positive talent outcomes
- Engages directly with leaders to build and lead resource plans for talent needs
- Partners with HR Centers of Expertise and HR Operations to develop and deliver solutions
- Develops a deep understanding of the talent market to inform talent acquisition strategy
- Promotes diversity and inclusion; implements D&I strategy
- Informs and participates in workforce planning and execution
- Identifies development needs for supported groups
- Serves as escalation point and subject matter expert for employee and labor relations issues
- Promotes periodic people processes to drive improved talent outcomes and a positive culture
- Acts as an ambassador of the AES employer brand
- Partners with internal communications to ensure timely, relevant, and consumable communications
- Supports change management projects as necessary
- Provides guidance on labor agreement administration, oversees the grievance process, assists in labor agreement negotiations, and may participate in negotiations or arbitration
Requirements
- 7+ years in Human Resources, with demonstrated ability to partner with business leaders to develop solutions and drive outcomes
- Experience working in a union environment and/or coordinating a labor agreement
- Experience within the energy industry preferred; or demonstrated ability to learn quickly
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong communication skills (written, oral, interpersonal)
- Detail-oriented with analytical problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Self-starter comfortable with ambiguity
- Strong presence and confidence to engage constructively with leaders at all levels
- Change agent; demonstrated ability to identify gaps, position solutions, and promote adoption
- Ability to navigate between tactical and strategic objectives
- Experience developing and delivering HR programs
- Solid understanding of HR subject areas and their value
- Handles confidentiality without exception
- Proven reputation in relationship building and networking
- Strategic thinking; understanding of business unit strategy and key financial/operational drivers
