About the role
RWJBarnabas Health HR Operations is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to provide operational and consultative human resources services—including recruitment, employee relations, benefits, and compensation—to assigned departments. The HR Business Partner establishes and maintains effective partnering relationships with leadership and staff, ensuring departmental HR goals are met and acting as the primary liaison between departments and the broader Human Resources Department.
Responsibilities
- Complete new hire and annual primary-source license verification through VeCred or other agencies.
- Counsel employees on interdepartmental transfers, promotional opportunities, and continuing education programs.
- Follow up with employees on in-house retention and satisfaction initiatives.
- Conduct exit interviews and monitor trends.
- Serve as the primary HR liaison for assigned departments, managing active employee relations issues and interpreting policies and union contracts.
- Act as the liaison between departments and Employee Health Services.
- Maintain current knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements; counsel managers to ensure compliance.
- Prepare corporate and facility reports, as well as documents for Peer Review, grievances, legal claims, and unemployment cases.
- Consult and mediate on policy and union contract interpretation; resolve actual or potential employee relations problems.
- Handle general office duties: greet customers, manage calls and inquiries, maintain office supplies, and keep work areas clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned; note that duties may change with or without notice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or Behavioral Science (required).
- Prior HR Business Partner experience (required).
- Working knowledge of HRIS and talent management systems.
- Excellent organizational, communication, time management, and interpersonal/problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to make independent judgments when appropriate.
- Preferred: 3–5 years of generalist-level HR experience.
