Job Summary

General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world’s leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies. The HR Business Partner plays a critical role in the success of these programs, focusing on organizational and employee development, consulting with employees and managers, addressing human resource challenges, and supporting talent management and succession planning.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build credibility by identifying employee behaviors and performance indicators that achieve desired results.
  • Add value through proactive human resource principles in career development, engagement, and retention efforts.
  • Facilitate talent development sessions and train clients on HR topics, including Performance Management and the Performance Review Process.
  • Develop training on HR topics for client groups and support Leadership Development programs.
  • Educate business leaders and employees on Federal and State (CA) employment laws and apply them in handling employee issues.
  • Build trust with leaders to diagnose performance concerns and advise on progressive documentation processes.
  • Partner with talent acquisition and business leaders to interview and select candidates for key jobs and conduct salary analyses.
  • Lead annual merit, bonus, and out-of-cycle compensation programs for assigned client groups, ensuring fairness and consistency.
  • Utilize exit interview data and other tools to identify trends and make recommendations to reduce turnover and improve employee engagement.
  • Analyze and present data using Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, charts) for both HR and client business groups.

Job Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Training, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least ten years of progressive professional experience in a corporate Human Resources department.
  • The ability to identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems of diverse scope and complexity.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings to a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees, including senior managers and senior external parties.
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • The ability to initiate, plan, and manage projects.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment, and the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
