This position supports the Human Resources Department with a focus on benefits administration, employee relations, HR operations, compliance, and employee support. It serves as a key resource for employees and managers regarding benefit programs, HR policies, leave administration, and employment-related matters while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company requirements.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain all employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, flexible spending accounts, and other employee benefit offerings.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee benefit inquiries, providing guidance and education regarding eligibility, enrollment, life events, claims issues, and plan provisions.
- Coordinate and manage annual Open Enrollment activities, including employee communications, benefit system updates, vendor coordination, and employee education sessions.
- Process benefit enrollments, terminations, qualifying life events, status changes, and dependent updates while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Partner with benefit brokers, insurance carriers, retirement plan providers, and third-party administrators to resolve employee issues and maintain effective vendor relationships.
- Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, parental leave, military leave, and other applicable leave programs.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, FMLA, and other applicable requirements.
- Maintain accurate employee personnel files, benefits records, and HRIS data while ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Facilitate and support New Hire Orientation programs, including benefit onboarding and employee education regarding company programs and policies.
- Assist employees and managers with questions regarding company policies, benefits, leave programs, employee relations matters, and HR-related procedures.
- Support employee relations matters through coaching, conflict resolution, documentation, investigations, and policy interpretation under the direction of HR Leadership.
- Coordinate employee recognition, wellness, engagement, and retention initiatives that support organizational culture and employee satisfaction.
- Assist with performance management processes, including documentation, employee development planning, and manager support.
- Process employment verifications, unemployment claims, workers' compensation documentation, and other HR administrative requirements.
- Maintain and update organizational charts, job descriptions, policy documents, employee handbooks, and workforce planning records.
- Conduct audits of HR and benefits data to ensure compliance, accuracy, and adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, analyze, and report on HR metrics including benefits utilization, turnover, absenteeism, headcount, retention, and employee engagement trends.
- Support payroll-related processes through employee data maintenance, benefit deductions, and coordination with payroll as needed.
- Assist with HR projects, process improvements, system implementations, and other duties assigned by Human Resources Leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive Human Resources experience with significant responsibility in benefits administration and HR generalist functions.
- Experience administering employee benefit programs, leave management, and employee relations processes.
- Advanced skills using the Microsoft Office Suite (Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Experience utilizing HRIS systems such as Paycom, Workday, ADP, UKG, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and benefit regulations.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact across all levels of the organization.
- Strong working knowledge of benefits administration, employee relations, leave management, HR compliance, and HR operations.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret policies, regulations, and employee situations.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to build trust, collaborate effectively, and provide exceptional customer service to employees and leaders.

- Ability to travel as required (up to 10-15%).
Preferred Qualifications
- SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
- Experience supporting employees in a highly regulated or fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience with benefits administration, leave management, and HR compliance in a multi-state workforce.
