HR Assistant
About the role
The HR Assistant supports the Human Resources department by providing administrative, clerical, and employee-facing support across a wide range of HR functions. This role manages personnel records and employee documentation, assists with payroll and timekeeping, and helps employees navigate HR processes and self-service tools. The position is ideal for a bilingual English–Spanish professional who enjoys helping people and wants to gain hands-on experience in nearly every area of HR while working with a leader who values development and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Assist employees with HR-related questions, requests, and general inquiries in a professional and supportive manner.
- Maintain, update, and organize personnel files and employee records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare documentation related to disciplinary actions and employee relations matters, following established HR procedures.
- Support payroll and timekeeping administration by helping to review, track, and update employee hours and related information.
- Track and update employee information in spreadsheets and internal HR systems to keep data current and reliable.
- Maintain benefits administration records and support benefits-related documentation and updates.
- Assist with filing, document management, and record retention to maintain an orderly and secure HR filing system.
- Support HR investigations through accurate documentation, note-taking, and record keeping as directed.
- Aid employees with computer access, tax form updates, address changes, and other self-service needs in HR systems.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including scheduling, correspondence, and other clerical tasks.
- Collaborate with HR team members to support HR initiatives, trainings, and meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall effectiveness of the HR function.
Essential Skills
- Fluency in both English and Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing.
- Strong customer service mindset with a genuine interest in helping employees.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Capability to support a diverse workforce with empathy and professionalism.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in administrative, receptionist, office assistant, HR assistant, or clerical roles.
- Experience working with employee records or HR documentation.
- Experience supporting bilingual employees in a professional setting.
- Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Exposure to payroll, timekeeping, benefits, or employee relations processes.
- Customer service experience in call centers, hospitality, retail sales, or similar environments.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, in an office or customer service setting.
Work Environment
This role operates in an office-based HR environment that supports employees working in a manufacturing setting. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional need to start earlier or stay later for trainings or meetings. Weekend work is rare. The HR Assistant works closely with an HR leader who emphasizes development and mentorship, providing exposure to a wide range of HR functions. The environment is professional, collaborative, and focused on providing responsive, high-quality support to employees across the organization.

This is a Permanent position based out of Woodburn, OR.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40,560.00 - $40,560.00/yr. Benefits include medical, dental, retirement savings, paid time off, paid holidays, company-provided lunches, and the opportunity to build a career in Human Resources while receiving hands-on training and mentorship.
