Key Responsibilities
- Provide L2/L3 production support for HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in a mission-critical, 24x7 environment.
- Participate in on-call rotation and act as SME during high-severity incident bridges.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
- Manage system patches, upgrades, and change implementations following standard change management (ITIL/CAB) processes.
- Maintain system performance, availability, and capacity through tools like MEASURE, PTrace, and EMS.
- Ensure high availability, resilience, and fault-tolerance across all NonStop environments.
- Analyze and resolve issues related to operating system and kernel-level failures, middleware, and application layers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams during production incidents and planned release cycles.
- Support application teams with performance tuning, system resource optimization, and issue diagnosis.
- Aid in batch scheduling and automation using tools like Netbatch, NSScheduler, or JAMS (as applicable).
- Guide development teams on platform-specific constraints, best practices, and architectural considerations.
- Develop and maintain system documentation including runbooks, configuration baselines, change records, and incident logs.
- Educate and guide internal stakeholders on NonStop platform capabilities, operational procedures, and best practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with HP NonStop (Tandem) systems in an enterprise production environment.
- Strong proficiency in Guardian OS / OSS, Pathway, TMF, Expand, SQL/MP and/or SQL/MX, EMS, and MEASURE/PTrace for monitoring and performance analysis.
- Solid understanding of high-availability, fault-tolerant architecture principles.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across OS, middleware, and application layers.
- Familiarity with batch processing, scheduling tools, and automation scripting (TACL).
- Experience in multi-data center / large enterprise environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in banking, payments processing, or other mission-critical domains.
- Familiarity with TACL, SCOBOL, TAL, or COBOL.
- Exposure to integration with modern platforms, REST APIs, or hybrid cloud environments.
- ITIL Foundation certification or equivalent service management framework knowledge.
- Experience with automation and scripting to reduce manual operational toil.
