About the role

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons aligned with district curriculum and state standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English Learners and students with disabilities.
  • Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments and use data to inform instruction.
  • Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a safe and productive classroom environment.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, special education staff, and support personnel to ensure student success.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
  • Adhere to district policies, including those related to student privacy, safety, and equity.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties (e.g., lunch, recess, hall monitoring).

Requirements

  • Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate endorsement(s) for the assigned grade level/subject area.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of content-area standards, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations, including English Learners and students with special needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Ability to use technology effectively to enhance instruction and communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required).
  • Master’s degree or advanced coursework in education (preferred).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency (preferred for certain positions).
  • Experience with standards-based grading, social-emotional learning (SEL), and trauma-informed practices (preferred).
