HOV Seat Build Supervisor

About the Role

Supervise a team of prototype technicians and Test Seat build assemblers. Prioritize tasks in support of company programs, in coordination with the Stress/Simulation and HOV Seat Build Manager, Platform Engineering, and Sales teams. Plan and execute the goals of the department, including personnel training and development, and addition of new skills and capabilities. Provide technical, personnel, and leadership support for the daily activities of the Prototype and Test Seat Build departments.

Responsibilities

• Supervise internal prototype builds, developmental test seats, and Certification test seats.
• Coordinate between internal departments (Platform Engineering, Testing, Program Management, Quality, Logistics, Planning, and Purchasing).
• Develop and maintain a build schedule that satisfies all stakeholders.
• Communicate and escalate issues impacting daily performance of prototype and test seat builds from Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Logistics.
• Motivate and lead the team to meet company goals.
• Ensure prototype equipment is maintained, operated safely, updated, calibrated, and meets quality standards.
• Train technicians on equipment usage, deviation list creation, and ballasting of test articles per engineering instructions.
• Create procedures and processes for the Prototype and Test Seat Build departments.
• Review and maintain daily attendance reports.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workplace; conduct regular housekeeping audits and support 5S initiatives.
• Conduct performance evaluations for Prototype and Test Seat Build technicians.
• Lead and facilitate effective meetings.
• Perform problem-solving and root cause analysis.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Relevant work experience may substitute for degree.
• 4+ years of experience with a degree (or 8+ years without a degree) in aircraft seat assembly or closely related field.
• Knowledgeable of the entire seat assembly process.
• Proven track record of leading a team through the development of complex mechanical systems.
• Exceptional organizational skills, self-motivation, and detail-oriented style with sensitivity to short and changing deadlines.

Skills

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and Bills of Materials.
• Knowledge of aviation legislation, quality, and environmental standards (e.g., FAA Part 21, EASA Part 21, AS 9100, ISO 14001) preferred.
• Experience with Lean Methodology; Lean/Six Sigma certification is a plus.
• Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook skills (e.g., basic formulas, data collection, categorization, sorting, reports, professional business writing).
• Experience with Teamcenter and SAP preferred.
