About the Role

This role supports the entire housing process—from search to lease signing—and collaborates closely with case managers to ensure long-term stability for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property managers, and housing partners.
  • Identify, visit, and secure various housing options (affordable housing, Section 8, shared housing, etc.).
  • Maintain an up-to-date housing database and unit availability list.
  • Help address client barriers (e.g., prior evictions); negotiate with landlords on behalf of clients.
  • Ensure units meet habitability standards and rent guidelines.
  • Support case managers in the housing search, application, and leasing process.
  • Advocate for clients and mediate landlord-tenant concerns.
  • Provide staff training on housing applications and requirements.
  • Track and document housing placements, appointments, and outcomes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and housing events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years in social services or sales/marketing, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal, sales, and advocacy skills.
  • Experience working with landlords and/or unhoused populations preferred.
  • Familiarity with fair housing laws and a range of housing programs.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of Housing First and Harm Reduction models.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office, HMIS, or other databases).
  • Cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid CA driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • TB clearance, background check, and CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Must meet UBH’s vehicle insurance eligibility.
  • Driving is essential to this position.
