Housekeeping Supervisor II

As part of the Housekeeping department within the Office of Facilities Management and Capital Planning, the Housekeeping Supervisor II provides outstanding service to the University of Baltimore by maintaining a clean and orderly environment in our buildings.

Responsibilities

• Team Assignments & Supervision: Regularly determines, plans, and schedules work priorities according to university and shift needs. Monitors and approves subordinates' leave requests, attendance, and timesheets.
• Facilities Inspections: Routinely inspects the quality and quantity of work to ensure it meets established standards. Shares findings with Supervisors, Leads, and Housekeepers. Periodically inspects assigned areas and reports physical condition to appropriate personnel regarding repairs, replacements, furnishings, and relocation of equipment.
• Equipment/Skills Subject Matter Expert: Frequently operates cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffers, and mops. Performs or assists with other cleaning duties as necessary. Occasionally assists and demonstrates housekeeping procedures and appropriate use of equipment to staff.
• Supplies Inventory Distribution: Loads and transports service cart with required materials and supplies to designated areas and back to campus storage areas. Requests cleaning materials and supplies as needed.
• Customer Service: Frequently receives and responds to inquiries regarding the cleanliness and upkeep of a room or general area on campus.

Requirements

• Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience in housekeeping work serving in a lead or supervisory capacity. Additional related formal education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis (30 college credits = one year of experience).

Skills

• Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services, including assessing customer needs, meeting quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
• Knowledge of established cleaning procedures and techniques, as well as the purpose and application of products and equipment used in cleaning operations.
• Knowledge and use of personal protective equipment.
• Skilled in motivating, developing, and directing people, as well as monitoring and assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action.
• Skilled in time management.
• Ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing so others will understand.
• Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment, and work with chemicals and cleaning solutions.
• Physical ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods; reach overhead and below the knees; and perform activities requiring considerable use of arms, legs, and moving the whole body (e.g., climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, stretching, twisting).
• Ability to lift, transport, or carry supplies and refuse up to 20 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to push, pull, or operate equipment up to 50 pounds unassisted.
• Ability to provide guidance and training to others.

Schedule

3:30 PM to 12:00 AM.
