About the Role

The EVS Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environments. Under the general direction of the Director of Support Services and other hospital leadership, you will supervise and support the EVS team, enforce cleanliness standards, and ensure a high-quality environment for patients, residents, employees, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Trains and mentors junior EVS staff to meet cleanliness standards and increase work performance.
  • Creates monthly work schedules for EVS employees.
  • Tracks overtime and callouts for EVS staff.
  • Inspects work product of staff across the facility.
  • Tracks expenses and vendor performance for EVS functions.
  • Reports and notes any deficiencies discovered during EVS duties.
  • Reports all patients, residents, and building safety concerns immediately to senior management.
  • Performs routine cleaning of patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors in a clean, neat, and sanitary manner.
  • Performs terminal/detailed cleaning by following checklists or instructions from the Infection Prevention Nurse.
  • Completes work assignments in a timely manner.
  • Utilizes appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.
  • Uses and maintains equipment properly; observes safety precautions and reports hazards.
  • Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Orders and maintains supplies as needed.
  • Follows all infection control practices, including handwashing, Standard Precautions, and Isolation Precautions.
  • Maintains age-specific safety precautions.
  • Cleans and maintains floors using heavy equipment to strip, polish, and clean on a scheduled/routine basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has supervisory responsibilities for EVS and Laundry staff.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • 3–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of environmental services.
  • Ability to determine appropriate courses of action in complex situations.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and prioritize work.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations professionally.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality standards regarding medical, financial, and legal information.
  • Commitment to professional growth through educational programs, training, and ongoing learning.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment operation manuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse teams.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-pressure situations.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Working irregular hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call situations.
  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment.
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions.
  • Pushing and pulling heavy objects.
  • Full range of body motion, including handling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers.
  • Requires talking, hearing, and seeing.

Pay

Starting at $25.32 per hour, depending on experience.
