About the role
The Housekeeping Aide maintains a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing routine cleaning and sanitation duties throughout the facility in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, offices, dining areas, and common areas daily.
- Dust, mop, sweep, vacuum, and polish floors and furniture.
- Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, and other restroom fixtures.
- Empty trash containers and dispose of waste properly.
- Replenish paper products, soap, and other housekeeping supplies.
- Clean windows, mirrors, walls, doors, and other surfaces as assigned.
- Follow infection control procedures and safety regulations.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Ensure cleaning equipment is properly maintained and stored.
- Assist with room preparation for new admissions and resident transfers.
- Respond promptly to spills and emergency cleaning situations.
- Maintain resident privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in facility training programs and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor or Administrator.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare facility preferred but not required.
- Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be dependable, courteous, and resident-focused.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate housekeeping equipment safely.
- Ability to work around cleaning chemicals and follow safety guidelines.
Working Conditions
- Long-term care and skilled nursing facility environment.
- Frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and bodily fluids.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
