Responsibilities
- Recruit and hire personnel to fill positions when vacant
- Prepare weekly schedules in accordance with occupancy and project demands
- Maintain all aspects of the bi-weekly payroll cycle including time clock edits and required documentation in a timely manner
- Monitor each staff member’s performance to ensure that they are fulfilling the requirements of their position; counsel employees and give direction on areas which need improvement
- Conduct ongoing training with all personnel to ensure that each employee is knowledgeable of their job description, hotel policies, safety and hotel security procedures, and that they are maintaining the standards of the hotel in the appropriate time period
- Establish a program of monthly departmental staff meetings and daily pre-shift meetings; record the names of each staff member who attended monthly meetings and the agenda of topics discussed
- Ensure staff members are following established procedures for cleaning techniques, chemical use and guest room setups; ensure all rooms meet established standards by adhering to the daily cycle of guest room inspection
- Establish and maintain hotel deep cleaning cycle including guest rooms, public space and back of the house areas; maintain detailed record of deep cleaning programs
- Inspect all public areas, grounds, storage rooms, kitchen and employee work areas on a daily basis
- Oversee all aspects of the laundry operation to ensure productivity standards are met, safety procedures are followed and the company assets are maintained and protected
- Ensure that all employees meet the uniform standards at all times and are well versed in proper interactions with hotel guests
- Ensure the daily flow of the housekeeping department is optimized for turning over the guest rooms for new arrivals and stayover rooms; maintain constant communication with the Front Desk Agents for a successful daily turnover of guest rooms with emphasis on maximizing the level of service provided to hotel guests
- Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure staff members have all the tools and supplies for maximum productivity and guest satisfaction, including setting up and maintaining adequate par levels of linen, chemicals, guest room amenities and supplies
- Ensure that all staff members are adhering to all safety and security procedures including entering of guest rooms, lost and found, master key protection, chemical usage, work space safety, reporting lost or damage hotel property, fire safety and reporting suspicious situations
- Work closely with the maintenance department to ensure hotel assets are functioning properly and protected, including repairs to hotel equipment and coordination/assistance with larger projects
- Maintain a professional positive leadership role at all times; always be concerned with all areas of the hotel operation and the guest experience
- Perform any other assignments/tasks requested by Hotel Manager or GM
Requirements
- Must be hands-on at least 70% of the work time
- Required to work weekends, nights and holidays as necessary
- Must be flexible with the work schedule based on the demands of the business levels
- Able to stand, walk and work for extended hours
- Able to lift, carry and push up to 50 pounds and push carts weighing up to 250 pounds
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of housekeeping leadership or supervisory experience
- Previous experience at a Preferred Hotels & Resorts property, luxury hotel, or resort property strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with a hands-on management style
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of cleanliness, guest service, and attention to detail
