Housekeeping Manager

Overview

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the Housekeeping Department, ensuring a clean and safe environment for guests, managing expenses, and motivating staff.

Responsibilities

• Respond to guest requests, problems, complaints, and accidents in an attentive, courteous, and efficient manner.
• Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline Housekeeping personnel according to Highgate Hotel SOP's.
• Manage and organize large turn days, including group check-ins or check-outs.
• Monitor out-of-order, out-of-service, discrepant, and show rooms.
• Ensure guest privacy and security through correct procedures.
• Balance and clear room status nightly; resolve discrepancies between PMS room status report and p.m. housekeeping report.
• Assist in preparing employee schedules, compiling payroll, and conducting monthly and quarterly Housekeeping inventories.
• Operate pagers and radios efficiently and professionally, maintaining radio etiquette within the department.
• Attend weekly staff meetings and provide training on a rotational basis.
• Review Housekeeping log book and Guest Request log on a daily basis.
• Ensure participation in departmental meetings and focus on contributing to Guest Service and audit scores.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of progressive experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 4-year college degree; or a 2-year college degree and 1 or more years of related experience.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Proficient in Windows, Company approved spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with ability to listen and clarify concerns.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and handle problems effectively.
• High standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
• Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
• Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
