About the Role
Assist the Director of Housekeeping with interviewing, hiring, training, motivating, evaluating, and managing housekeeping team members to achieve all departmental goals and objectives. Ensure the clean and orderly appearance of the hotel through effective planning, management, and supervision. Perform room and member inspections to maintain consistent luxury quality standards. Oversee the overall cleanliness and maintenance of all guestrooms, adhering to corporate and property policies.
Responsibilities
- Select, recognize, and reward the housekeeping team to positively impact colleague and guest satisfaction.
- Effectively communicate information and directives throughout the department and property.
- Ensure new employees are trained in proper cleaning methods, equipment use, and maintenance.
- Assist with the administration and management of housekeeping operations, including scheduling, payroll, supply, and inventory control.
- Maintain high morale and productivity through staff planning, training, development, and monthly departmental meetings.
- Enhance housekeeping standards and address guest comments or concerns immediately.
- Monitor the quality of supplies and linen in the department.
- Participate in managing employee relations, including development discussions and performance management.
- Evaluate, develop, and monitor departmental health and safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment.
- Purchase departmental supplies and coordinate services with outside contractors as needed.
- Review and update procedures for stocking, care, and control of all supplies.
- Ensure rooms’ core standards are implemented and audited for consistency.
- Assume responsibility for the Housekeeping Department in the absence of the Housekeeping Director.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Previous experience in Housekeeping is an asset.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Windows applications.
- University/College degree in Hospitality or a related discipline is an asset.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate colleagues.
- Highly organized, energetic, and capable of executing tasks efficiently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
