About the Role

Serves as a working leader at a Navy Gateway Inn and Suites and/or Navy Lodge property, responsible for leading and inspecting the work of team members in performing housekeeping duties to ensure program standards are met. Regularly performs the full range and scope of housekeeping services, the same as a Housekeeping Attendant.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and relay information or instructions from the supervisor/manager to Housekeeping Attendants.
  • Assist in training new associates and answer questions regarding policies, procedures, and directives.
  • Ensure adherence to work schedules and keep supervisors informed of work status and problem areas.
  • Train and demonstrate proper work methods and procedures for all personnel.
  • Implement the most efficient and economical methods of cleaning and maintaining guest rooms.
  • Ensure required cleaning materials and linen are available.
  • Perform the same level of housekeeping work as the associates led, including:
    • Cleaning guest rooms, public spaces, storage areas, laundry rooms, and exterior spaces.
    • Vacuuming, mopping, dusting, scrubbing, washing, moving items, polishing, and removing debris/trash.
    • Transporting clean and dirty linen and towels.
  • Use hand and powered cleaning equipment.
  • Maintain records of housekeeping work, including room occupancy, departure, and arrival dates.
  • Maintain continuity in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
  • Greet and welcome guests, maintaining outstanding guest relations.
  • Conduct daily inspections of rooms, housekeeping carts, common areas, and laundry facilities, documenting findings.
  • Ensure privacy and security of guests and all items in storerooms or assigned storage areas.
  • Order and manage cleaning supplies, in-room amenities, and other materials needed by housekeeping staff.
  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained, stored, and accounted for.
  • Issue amenities, supplies, and linen to Housekeeping Attendants and perform monthly/quarterly inventory.
  • Handle guest and staff suggestions and complaints, resolving issues tactfully or escalating as needed.
  • Set up, maintain, and clean the complimentary self-service breakfast bar, including food handling as required.
  • Apply knowledge of blood-borne pathogens and safety measures for handling contaminated linens and personal care items.
  • Follow all NEXCOM Hospitality Group (NHG) protocols during daily service activity.
  • Perform and inspect laundry operations at the facility.
  • Maintain a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities as required.
  • Cover operations during inclement weather or emergencies in the absence of the immediate supervisor.
  • Obtain NHG housekeeping certification within 6 months of employment and other required certifications.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Schedule

  • Full-time (35+ hours per week)
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
  • May work across multiple locations based on business needs

Qualifications

  • No experience required
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred
  • 6 months of housekeeping experience preferred
  • Leadership and/or training experience preferred

Initial assignment will be at Point Loma Base in San Diego, California.
