Housekeeper - General Maintenance Worker (GMW) / Part-Time, Day Shift

About the role

The Housekeeper for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) at the Bemidji Veterans Home (MVH-Bemidji) is responsible for performing housekeeping and maintenance activities to ensure a clean, comfortable, healthy, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

• Use hand tools and handle fairly light materials manually
• Perform work functions using ladders and scaffolding
• Perform laundry functions
• Function in adverse weather conditions
• Make minor mechanical repairs to maintenance equipment
• Operate simple maintenance equipment
• Follow instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records

Requirements

• Knowledge of different types of flooring/floor covering
• Knowledge of chemical cleaning agents
• Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance

Qualifications

• Ability to use hand tools and handle fairly light materials manually
• Ability to perform work functions using ladders and scaffolding
• Ability to function in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to make minor mechanical repairs to maintenance equipment
• Ability to operate simple maintenance equipment
• Ability to follow instructions, read and understand operational manuals, and keep simple records

Pay

The starting wage range for this position is $20.87 - $25.88 per hour.

Schedule

This position is initially eligible for full employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits. The work schedule will include at least 64 hours per 2-week pay period and may include additional work hours, based on business needs.
