Job Summary

Under supervisor, performs a variety of skilled maintenance work of warehouse-related equipment (i.e. pallet jack, forklifts, batteries, etc.). This includes light troubleshooting work as needed. In addition, the Maintenance Worker will be responsible for maintaining the electrical, plumbing, and cleaning of the different departments within the building.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure that all equipment is operating properly and safely.
  • Perform periodic and general maintenance tasks throughout the facility as assigned and according to schedule. Includes pallet jack, dollies, forklift, plumbing, carpentry, and building maintenance, major overhaul of equipment, fabrication of parts, air conditioning and heating system.
  • Inspect and hand sort wooden pallets accurately and efficiently in designated area.
  • Painting such as parking lot, warehouse floor lines and other “touch up” jobs as needed.
  • With proper approval, may purchase and pick up tools and other equipment from local vendors to perform required duties.
  • Perform all work in accordance with WAF and government guidelines regarding food safety standards, rules, regulations when working on equipment and maintenance.
  • Maintain various preventative maintenance log with proper documentation, per WAF policy.
  • Coverage of required services by external calibration/maintenance supplier.
  • Coordinate with external calibration/maintenance supplier to complete required services.
  • Follow company procedures. Ensure a safe work environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills And Ability

  • Knowledge of equipment operation.
  • Knowledge of mechanics and electricity.
  • Reads and interprets simple mechanical drawings, electrical labels, and operating manuals.
  • Able to read and write legibly; basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Able to work with little direct supervision.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently.
  • Able to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures.
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead and to work in or under the equipment.
  • Able to operate work related equipment such as maintenance related power equipment and hand tools, forklifts and pallet jacks and diagnostic equipment.
  • Mental alertness is necessary to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities.
  • Able to read, speak, and write in English.
  • Positive work history and ability to maintain solid attendance.
  • Available to work extended hours.
