House Security
About the Role
House Security is a frontline customer safety role providing exceptional service to all patrons and guests. House Security works alongside third-party security throughout the event, monitors the security of the three ATG San Antonio venues (Majestic Theatre, Charline McCombs Empire Theatre, and The Espee), and reports to the Customer Experience Manager and the House Security Lead. House Security assists the Front of House with upholding venue policies and procedures to ensure patrons are enjoying their experience in a safe environment.
House Security has the honor of ensuring the safety of the staff and patrons of San Antonio's beloved landmarks: the Majestic Theatre (1929), Charline McCombs Empire Theatre (1914), and the Espee (1902).
Responsibilities
Pre-Event
- Attends pre-show meetings to obtain all necessary pre-show information and procedures.
- Assists in the setup of all security checkpoints prior to Early Access/House doors.
- During ingress, monitors patron ingress and directs lines to ensure a fluid ingress process.
- Assists third-party security with wanding and bag checking.
During Event
- Communicates over radio of any security issues that may arise.
- Resolves guest issues quickly and efficiently.
- Provides support to Front of House staff with security and safety concerns.
- Maintains a high level of observation and professionalism throughout the event.
- Provides accurate event information to patrons (e.g., event details, general building knowledge, and all building amenities).
- Enforces venue policies in a respectful manner.
- Successfully reports any security issues before, during, and after events.
Other Duties
- Assists the Senior House Manager and House Security Lead with any needs that may arise.
Requirements
- Must provide best-in-class customer service and employee relations.
- Must be/become CPR certified, Stop the Bleed trained, and complete other trainings as needed.
- Previous experience in security operations and event operations.
- Experience working with other venues is a plus (venues with occupancy of 100–100,000).
- Work within a security service or law enforcement is a plus.
- Minimum high school diploma required; some college preferred.
- Professional appearance.
- Engaging personality and a desire to exceed guest expectations.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and problem-solving skills with patrons and staff across all levels.
- Ability to work well under stress and solve problems quickly and courteously.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
- Must be able to work full shifts which may exceed 4 hours.
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
- Must be able to work a minimum of 5 Broadway and 2 non-Broadway events or 20% of events per month (number based on booked events; failure to meet minimum work requirement after three consecutive months may result in termination).
