Job Description

Summary: UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system with five hospitals, four medical centers, nearly 200 physician practice locations, more than 700 providers, the Frazier Rehab Institute and Brown Cancer Center. The position is responsible for total unit operations on a 24-hour basis, including fiscal management, staff development, and resource management.

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Supervises assigned professional, technical, and clerical staff of the department to ensure the quality of work.
  • Manages the workflow of the unit to ensure the delivery of quality patient care.
  • Implements and supports quality improvement activities for the department.
  • Develops staffing patterns and ensures availability of sufficient qualified staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Contributes to the effective management of the department including supplies, equipment, space, technology, policies and procedures.
  • Contributes to the financial viability of the organization including managing productivity and budgeting process.
  • Maintains effective working relationships, communication and collaborative decision making with medical staff, other departments, leaders, staff and others.
  • Affords assistance in the organization in maintaining and achieving its goals related to licensure, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely delivery of various reports including staff schedules, labor productivity, IRIS and others as assigned.
  • Participates in community activities on behalf of the organization.

Other Functions

  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

  • Graduate of a state approved school of nursing, associate degree in nursing (required).
  • (Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program (preferred)).
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Kentucky.
  • BLS through the American Heart Association.
  • Three years of RN experience, including 2 years of management.
