Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit special needs and monitor progress.
  • Demonstrate familiarity of diagnostic tools and assessments for students of all levels.
  • Provide school-based, multi-tiered counseling, as well as, social, emotional and behavioral intervention services to individuals, groups, and parents; including ongoing direct services to students with developmental and emotional disabilities.
  • Prioritize time effectively, working with building administration to identify yearly specific goals and priorities for services.
  • Engage in individual and school-wide safety implementation; including crisis response, prevention assessment and intervention for students at-risk of harm to self or others.
  • Show strong communication, organization and planning skills.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and leadership.
  • Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, staff, parents and administrators.
  • Willing to support and actively participate in a Professional Learning Community.
  • Work cooperatively and engage in active participation with teachers, teaching assistants and other mental health and special education personnel to provide intervention and consultation regarding the needs of students.
  • Develop positive working relationships with community agencies/resources.
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and building/district professional activities.
  • Adhere to the professional ethical standards and guidelines developed by the National Association of Social Workers.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

  • All out-of-district applicants will be screened by a mental health coordinator prior to being considered for this position.
  • Criminal background check and fingerprinting required for hire.
  • Hold a valid Colorado Special Services License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • LCSW preferred for social workers, not required.
  • Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
