Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Comprehend and abide by all traffic regulations while transporting guests to and from the airport terminal or other designated sites.
  • Lift luggage, packages, and boxes from cars, buses, vans, and carts, placing items on the ground, onto baggage carts, conveyors, or other vehicles.
  • Listen, understand, and respond immediately to guest and associate inquiries and requests for assistance.
  • Greet guests with a friendly and sincere welcome.
  • Remain calm and alert, especially during emergencies or heavy hotel activity, and handle complications from driving in the local community.
  • Clearly communicate the features and services of the hotel facilities.

Supportive Functions

  • Maintain an alert and attentive demeanor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the hotel van by cleaning and washing it when appropriate.
  • Take the van for periodic servicing and fueling as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, such as assisting at the Front Desk or Housekeeping when necessary.
  • Attempt to communicate with guests in their native language, if applicable.
  • Remain calm and alert during emergencies and resolve complications such as location changes or credit issues.
  • Assist other Van Driver associates when needed.
  • Provide safety deposit boxes for guests by escorting them to the vault, pulling the box from the vault, and carrying it to the guest.
  • Operate various office machines.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license issued by the state in which the hotel is located.
  • Must be 21 years or older to apply.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Considerable skill in using a calculator to prepare moderately complex mathematical calculations without error.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to read, listen, and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop as required.
