Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Manage the day-to-day operations of all hotel departments, including front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, and maintenance.
- Ensure that all departments are operating efficiently and in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with department heads to ensure that all areas of the hotel meet or exceed guest expectations.
- Conduct regular walk-throughs of the property to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and guest service.
- Guest Satisfaction: Monitor guest feedback and reviews, addressing complaints and resolving any issues promptly.
- Work with department heads to implement service improvements based on guest feedback.
- Ensure that all guest requests and special needs are addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain high standards of hospitality by fostering a guest-centric culture among all staff.
- Financial Management: Assist the General Manager in the development and management of operational budgets, ensuring cost control and financial performance.
- Monitor department performance and profitability, identifying areas for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
- Review financial reports, including occupancy rates, labor costs, and revenue metrics, to guide operational decisions.
- Work with the sales and marketing team to implement strategies that increase room occupancy and F&B revenue.
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead, train, and support department heads in delivering excellent guest service and maintaining operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular meetings with department heads to ensure alignment of goals and strategies across departments.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and staff development, ensuring all employees have the tools and knowledge they need to succeed.
- Implement staff performance evaluations and provide feedback to encourage growth and improvement.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure all operations comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety laws.
- Maintain a focus on guest and employee safety by enforcing proper safety protocols and conducting regular safety inspections.
- Ensure all employees adhere to hotel policies regarding privacy, security, and data protection.
- Oversee risk management processes to minimize incidents and liabilities.
- Property Maintenance & Management: Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure that the property is well-maintained and that all equipment is in good working order.
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance to manage room turnover and ensure that all guest areas are clean and presentable.
- Manage ongoing projects, renovations, and repairs, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.
- Marketing & Revenue Management: Work closely with the marketing team to promote hotel services and special offers.
- Analyze occupancy trends and collaborate with revenue management to implement pricing strategies that maximize profitability.
- Participate in sales and marketing initiatives to drive room sales and promote hotel amenities such as dining, spa, and events.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Additional certifications in hotel operations, management, or relevant areas are advantageous.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in hotel operations, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role. Proven experience in leading teams and managing multiple hotel departments.
- Strong financial acumen, including experience with budget management, cost control, and revenue optimization.
- Skills: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and make decisions under pressure in a fast-paced environment. In-depth knowledge of hotel management software (e.g., Opera, PMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving abilities, with a guest-focused approach.
