About the role
The Night Manager oversees all front-office operations during the 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM shift, provides leadership to the Front Office team, and acts as the manager on duty for the hotel.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor Front Office staff on the evening shift, ensuring adherence to the Seven Principles of Service, hotel policies, and employee handbook; provide coaching, training, and corrective action as needed.
- Act as manager on duty: resolve guest complaints, handle disturbances, fulfill special requests, and address any operational issues.
- Communicate daily activities, group/VIP arrivals, special requests, and repeat-guest information to all Front Office staff.
- Inspect guest accommodations to confirm that special requests are fulfilled; greet arriving guests and escort them when appropriate.
- Collaborate with the Housekeeping Department to improve guest services and foster cross-departmental communication.
- Enforce all emergency and safety procedures; remain current on new protocols and training; ensure staff are fully trained in emergency response (this position is part of the hotel’s emergency response team).
- Perform all operational duties of the Front Office during the evening shift.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Supervisory experience in a hotel setting preferred.
- One to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proficiency in common Windows-based programs, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to operate basic office equipment (copier, fax, printer, etc.).
- Flexibility in work hours and days.
- Strong organization and time-management skills.
- Hilton Brand experience a plus but not required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with diverse personalities.
- Experience with hospitality industry software desired.
- Ability to handle multiple simultaneous demands with discretion, finesse, and sound judgment.
