About the role
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for general maintenance throughout the hotel. Duties include repairing, replacing, and refurbishing items around the hotel, ensuring safety and cleanliness, following the preventative maintenance calendar, and keeping supervisors informed of supply levels. Additional responsibilities may involve stepping up to take on extra duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Repairing, replacing, and refurbishing items around the hotel
- Taking responsibility for the safety and cleanliness of areas inside and outside the hotel
- Following the preventative maintenance calendar and looking for new ways to improve guest experiences
- Keeping supervisors or duty managers in the loop with supply levels
- Being ready to step up and take on extra duties when the team needs you
Requirements
- At least two years of maintenance or repair work experience
- A high school diploma or related vocational training
- Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics, and preventative maintenance procedures
- A reasonable level of fitness, including the ability to be on your feet most of the day and bend and kneel frequently
- Great communication skills, warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to
Qualifications
While not all qualifications are required, candidates should have:
- Experience with building equipment and hand tools
- Knowledge of basic plumbing, electrics, and preventative maintenance procedures
- Reasonable physical fitness to perform tasks such as bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods
- Effective communication skills to interact with guests and colleagues
