About the role

The Steamboat Grand Team is seeking an Assistant Manager to join the Banquets team. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a highly independent, self-regulated, detail-oriented professional ensuring all aspects of an event are addressed.
  • Provide superior service to internal and external customers at all times.
  • Follow Resort Etiquette Guidelines and respond courteously to guests.
  • Review and prepare for all Banquet Events with the Banquet Manager.
  • Plan, supervise, and coordinate daily operations of Banquet Functions.
  • Consult with Catering/Conference staff, Director of F&B, and/or Executive Chef on serving arrangements and additional employees/equipment needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between guests and group contacts.
  • Supervise and assist with all operations, including setting tables, stocking service stations, taking orders, serving, clearing, and cleaning tables, setting up bars and other service stations as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate quality standards for food and service.
  • Monitor guest counts at meetings, breaks, and meals, and ensure bills are prepared according to these numbers.
  • Reconcile gratuity allocations and submit for Banquet Manager approval.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of responsibilities.
  • Ensure alcohol policies are enforced.
  • Oversee shift meetings and administer Workday Time Keeping.
  • Attend BEO meetings and organize BEOs in binders for all staff.
  • Request order for supplies and establish standards and procedures for all banquet staff.
  • Develop and implement hiring and training programs to ensure adequate staffing with trained personnel.
  • Interact with guests and group contacts as a liaison for their event.
  • Ensure understanding and compliance with all company policies and procedures, including regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in service charge distribution.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous work history/education required.
  • Prior management experience at Steamboat Ski & Resort Food and Beverage venue helpful, not required.
  • Must meet SSRC minimum driving standards and have a current Driver's license; a successful motor vehicle record background check is required.
  • Problem solve in a highly effective manner and maintain positive relationships with guests and staff, including management, subordinates, and co-workers.
  • Be a consistent role model for company's Service Excellence standards.
  • Prefer experience with RTP, Workday, and Office and some accounting experience.
  • Must have good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Previous experience with basic food service administrative functions, such as ordering, inventory control, staff scheduling, and cash reports, preferred; must be skilled and reliable in cash handling techniques.
  • Must have Colorado approved Alcohol Server Training certificate or attend a Colorado approved alcohol server training educational seminar within 30 days of employment.
  • Must have current Food Manager and Allergy training certificate, or attend Food Manager and Aller-train certification courses for Alterra Mountain Company within 14 days of employment.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school helpful; or one year of relevant food service experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

Pay

The base hourly pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00 per hour.

Schedule

This is a Flex Year-Round position, which means you will work 10 out of 12 months in the year. Year-Round benefits apply, but there are 2 months during the year when business levels are lower, and scheduled hours will not be provided.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds (boxes, chair racks, tables).
  • Must stand for prolonged periods of time (up to 5 hours).
  • Must communicate clearly in the English language both written and verbally.
  • Must work both indoor and outdoor events.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor/Outdoor: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to harsh and varying outside weather conditions.
  • Hazardous Materials/Noise: The noise level in the workplace is usually moderate.
